Day's End

Day's End

I know my blog has been a little quiet the past several months, but my paintbrush has been busy!  This is a small 16 x 20 work I painted this summer based on Good Hart, Michigan.   The old boat resting on the rickety staircase and the rocks on the railing are a reminder of the day's activities.  Hope you like it.

Pieces of CAW (Creative Arts of Women)

Small Works in the Riffe Center Lobby

I recently joined a local arts group of creative women (CAW) who are a source of inspiration and feedback for my own artistic endeavors.  Pieces of CAW is an exhibition that will feature artwork 10" or smaller in the Riffe Center Lobby in Columbus from March 1 - 31. My oil painting, Asphalt and Lime, measures 6 inches by 8 inches.  I loved the pop of color against the gray background.  Hope you enjoy it.

Evensong

Evensong

I created this painting specifically for our bedroom, using the green and plum color of our area rug and the themes of leaves and nature in the bed linens.  The frog was modeled from a little green pillow with gold frogs on it that sits on our bed.  When it came time to title it I was at a loss until suddenly "Evensong" came to mind - it means "Evening Prayer" in Anglican churches.  The soft cheeping and thrum of frogs as dusk turns to night is very much nature's prayer to my ears, and seemed the right name for a painting that I will fall asleep under.

A reception will be held February 7th from 5 pm to 6:30 pm. Hope to see you there!
